This is a photo of one of the HH-43's at Det. #3 setting down in the alert circle. The cylindrical item on the right side of the photo is a FSK (Fire Suppression Kit). This the kit used to fight aircraft fires. The C-5A in the background was the first C-5 to ever land at Ubon. He landed without any problems. When he took off it was a different story. The wings were so wide and the engines so large that when the pilot gave it the gas and began rolling down the runway he blew down the arming shacks, marker signs, and anything else that was above ground near the runway.
